BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves lost, 4-0, to the Bridgewater State University Bears in the semifinal round of the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Tennis Championship Tournament. No. 5-seeded WestConn ends the year at 6-15 and top-seeded Bridgewater State improves to 11-4. The Bears will host No. 2-seeded Rhode Island College in the LEC Finals on Saturday at 1 p.m. Bridgewater State took a 1-0 lead after doubles play and used three singles wins in straight sets to clinch the victory. Jose Zambrano (Danbury, Conn.) were both competitve in their first sets but both lost, 7-6, and both were left unfinished.
"We had nothing to lose today," said WestConn Head Coach Shawn Stillman. "We were the lower seed playing a strong BSU team. Our guys came out strong but couldn't get it done. I'm so proud of their efforts. It was season filled with great moments and memories. I'm sorry for them that it's over."
