GORHAM, Maine — The Western Connecticut State University men's ice hockey team fell 3-0 on the road at Little East Conference opponent the University of Southern Maine on Saturday. The Wolves dropped to 1-17-0 overall and 0-11-0 in the league, while the Huskies moved to 10-7-1 and 8-2-1.
The hosts notched their first goal at 5:40 in the opening period as Kayde Kinaschuk put the Huskies up, 1-0, and less than four minutes later Kinaschuk socred again off the shorthanded Wolves. Kinaschuk completed the hat trick with 35 seconds remaining in regulation.
Liam Lane (Colorado Springs, Colo.) denied 26 USM shots, including 10 in a scoreless second period and Ean Badgett stopped 35.
WestConn returns home to face LEC rival Plymouth State University on January 30 for a 6:30 puck drop at the Danbury icea Arena.
