WATERBURY, Conn. - After being edged in their inaugural contest yesterday, the Western Connecticut State University men's hockey team fell at non-conference opponent Post University, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon. Six different players notched goals for the hosts in the win.
Post began the contest with three consecutive goals in the first period to open up a 3-0 advantage. They continued to pile it on in the second and third periods with a trio of powerplay strikes. WestConn racked up 27 shots on goal but Benjamin Cuneen was up to the task, stopping 26 shots before being relieved.Â
With the loss, the Wolves dropped to 0-2 overall while Post improved to 1-0. WestConn will look to pierce the win column when they square off against the University of Southern Maine in a Little East Conference matchup on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m.
