Hailey Golembiewski tossed a no-hit shut out against Saint Elizabeth University and the Western Connecticut State University softball team improved to 5-2 with a 5-0 win in Monday's opener at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.
In the nightcap, WestConn defeated Lesley University, 13-2 in a mercy-rule shortened affair.

Golembiewski improves to 2-2 on the season after striking out 11 and walking nine in WestConn's fourth straight victory in the Sunshine State.
At the plate, the Wolves scattered 10 singles with junior short stop
Rachael Ushka once again going 3-for-3 and scoring a pair of runs.
Freshman third baseman
Alexis Resto went 2-for-3 and drove in two runners while fellow rookie
Benni Tucci went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

Amber Roggendorf each had an RBI for the winners.
Game Two - Lesley University 2 vs. WestConn 13 (5 innings)
The Wolves collected seven hits and took advantage of six Lynx fielding miscues to score a season-high 13 runs in the afternoon game on the west coast.
Benni Tucci continued her blistering hitting by going 2-for-3 and scoring two runs.

Vanderploeg belted a triple in the Wolves' five-run fourth inning.
Oliva Bordenaro collected the victory from the center circle after striking out eight and walking just one in four innings of work. She is now 2-0 on the season.
Karly Vito mopped up in the fifth and allowed one run and walked two.
